- Dress up like your bosses boss. Dress up really well , but don’t overdo either. Dress decently with light colored clothes and dark colored pants. We are naturally attracted to contrasts, make sure the contrasts of your clothes are good.
- Never underestimate homework : You might be going for a job with specific domain . Make sure you know the total in and out of your field of interests. Its good to prepare one topic really thoroughly then to have general knowledge about many . They are gonna judge your intelligence by what you tell them . If you end up saying vague things for lesser known topics , they ll form their own opinions right away .
- Don’t mind competition : Its corporate world that you are gonna enter , take a stand wherever you can (GD, group activities round). During group discussion be the first one to start the topic and make sure to make some intelligent points rather than just making points for the sake of winning .
- Fake it only if you can make it : Its really difficult for interviewers to know if you can do a thing practically . You can fake about knowing or willing to know a particular skill or a technology . But if you fail to do that in real , you are gonna have some trouble .
- Its okay to say no : If you don’t know about something , just smile slightly and say in a nice way that “ My understand of this particular topic is limited but if given a chance I am willing to learn and bring forward to you the best of my knowledge on this particular topic”. The interviewer will be more than impressed to talk to a person who is willing to learn.
- Posture: Though this is a thing which might not be that important but it definitely plays an important to have a really positive aura around you . An upright posture with hands on the knees can emulate confidence .
- Confidence: In a room where everyone has same amount of knowledge and same amount of willingness, your confidence can definitely make you standout from everyone else . An employer might prefer someone with high confidence and lesser knowledge because knowledge can be taught , you just need the basic maturity
- Do not hesitate to negotiate : If you are a fresher you might not have much chance to negotiate but ,if you have some amount of experience , you can definitely put forward your demands. The main reason we get paid less is we do not ask them the real worth and end up settling for less. It is okay to over quote and negotiate than to under-quote and settle down.
